According to our database (as of May 2023), a total of more than 5.3M businesses operate in Germany. 11.42% of them (more than 608 thousand) operate in Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate. These companies generate 22.6% of total sales generated by all businesses registered in Germany and employ 19% of all employees in Germany. The TOP 15 Banks in Germany reported assets worth EUR 4.8T in 2021 - the largest company, Deutsche Bank AG, was responsible for 27% of the total, with EUR 1.3T. In total, these banks had a net profit of more than EUR 8.9B.

The German banking sector is complex.
